New Director of Tate Modern Appointed
Chris Dercon, Director of the Haus der Kunst, Munich, has been appointed the new Director of Tate Modern.  Chris has been Director of the Haus der Kunst since 2003. For over twenty years, he has taken a leading role in the development and direction of major international cultural institutions. He was successively Programme Director at PS1, New York, (1988 – 89) and Director of the Witte de With, Centre of Contemporary Art in Rotterdam (1990 - 95). From 1996 -2003 he was Director of the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam.  Chris has been instrumental in integrating collections into the Haus der Kunst programme, especially of conceptual art, media and performance art. He has implemented major development projects including the renovation and expansion of the Boijmans Van Beuningen. More recently he has been consulting with architects Rem Koolhaas and Herzog & de Meuron on the renovation of the Haus der Kunst.  Tate is delighted that he has agreed to lead the team that is taking Tate Modern into its second decade. Chris will move to London and take up the appointment of Director, Tate Modern in spring 2011.  

The Hayward Gallery Reopens
The Hayward Gallery reopens in London after an extensive renovation with Ernesto Neto: The Edges of the World and The New Décor which includes the work of Diango Hernández, Los Carpinteros, Ernesto Neto and Doris Salcedo. Both exhibitions will be on display from June 19 to September 5, 2010.

Latin American Acquisitions Committee
We are happy to welcome Patricia Moraes and Pedro Barbosa (Sao Paolo) as new members of our Latin American Acquisitions Committee which helps acquire contemporary Latin American art for Tate.
