Kreemart/American Patrons of Tate Cake Video to be shown at the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation in Miami
We are extremely proud to announce that the video of the Kreemart/American Patrons of Tate Cake Event will be shown at the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation (CIFO) during Art Basel Miami Beach. The event on November 3 was a great success with nearly 700 attendees. While many people helped contribute to the success but we would like to Haunch of Venison for their space, Raphael Castoriano from Kreemart for creating the event, Sandro Suppnig at Vision On for directing the video and– of course – all the artists who made it possible.
$1 million Grant
The Board of Trustees of the American Patrons of Tate voted to make a $1 million grant to Tate when they met last month. The grant will support a variety of projects at Tate including exhibitions, international programs, scholarship and acquisitions. Thank you to all of you who have made contributions this year that has allowed us to make this grant … and for those of you who did not there is still time to make a year-end contribution!
News from Tate: New Director for Tate Britain
Dr Penelope Curtis has been appointed director of Tate Britain, replacing
founding director, Dr Stephen Deuchar, who will become director of the Art Fund. Dr Curtis joined the Leeds Museums and Galleries in 1994 as head of the Henry Moore Centre for the study of sculpture. She led the centre to become the Henry Moore Institute, where research became as important as the exhibitions. Previously, she was an exhibitions curator at Tate Liverpool. We look forward to welcoming Dr Curtis to the US in due course.
North American Acquisitions Committee
We are happy to welcome Randy Slifka and Dr. Kira Flanzraich as as new members of our North American Acquisitions Committee which helps acquire contemporary American art for Tate.
